German Police Union Chief Suggests Netflix Subscriptions as Incentives for Knife Surrender

Despite this, butterfly knives have become a popular choice of weapon, leading to a surge in knife crime in recent years. Surgeons at Berlin's university hospital, Charité, disclosed that they treated more knife crime victims in the first half of this year than in all of 2023. The injuries are also more severe, with victims suffering multiple and deeper stab wounds, often inflicted by larger knives. Ulrich Stöckle, managing director of the Center for Musculoskeletal Surgery, questioned, "Why is there this increasing trend of violence?"

Immigration and Crime Statistics

Recent data from the interior ministry reveals that foreign nationals are overrepresented in crime statistics.
