Political Commentator Megyn Kelly Debunks Mainstream Media Narratives
In a recent debate, political commentator Megyn Kelly effectively dismantled the mainstream media narrative put forth by pundit Dan Abrams concerning the guilty verdict of former President Donald Trump.
Abrams' Argument
Abrams, who hosts News Nation’s “Dan Abrams Live” and serves as a legal analyst for ABC News, argued on Sunday that Trump's case had proven "wrongdoing" that justified 34 guilty counts. When Kelly asked him to specify the wrongdoing, Abrams responded, "Paying 130k to a porn star to keep her quiet."
Kelly's Counterargument
Kelly, however, disagreed with Abrams' assertion, stating, "That’s not illegal." Abrams countered by claiming that the payment was illegal as it was made by Trump to "protect his campaign." Kelly firmly rejected this claim, stating, "Absolutely not correct on every level."
Abrams insisted that making such a payment to protect a campaign was illegal, citing campaign finance laws as his basis. Kelly, however, dismissed his argument, stating, "Wrong, you don’t know what you’re talking about. It does not amount to a campaign contribution if it is the kind of payment that could ever be made outside of the campaign context. There’s been Supreme Court precedent on this.”
Other Scholars' Opinions
Other constitutional scholars, such as Jonathan Turley and Alan Dershowitz, both Democrats, have also recently expressed uncertainty about the specific crime Trump allegedly committed in the New York City case.
