The media has refused to acknowledge this event as an assassination attempt. MSNBC, for instance, attributed all the commotion to "popping sounds" that supposedly startled the former president. However, a more accurate account might be that he was struck on the side of the head by a bullet.
Comparison of Media Coverage
The New York Times came the closest to admitting that a gunman was involved, albeit framing it as though someone was indiscriminately shooting at the rally, rather than making a targeted assassination attempt. The newspaper reported, "The Secret Service killed a gunman after Donald Trump was rushed off stage in what is being investigated as an assassination attempt." This is exactly what happened.
Media Reaction to Trump's Response
Once it was undeniable that an assassination attempt had occurred, the mainstream media shifted its focus to Trump's reaction, thereby exposing themselves once again. For instance, CBS anchor Margaret Brennan criticized him for not urging his followers to remain calm.
Mainstream Media vs Alternative Outlets
Despite all the gaslighting and lies, it's astonishing that the so-called "mainstream media" still claims to have the factual high ground. Meanwhile, alternative outlets that genuinely report the facts and follow data are often vilified and dismissed as "conspiracy theory" sources.
