I think we have to give the people who were in charge, including the Trump administration, a little grace because nobody knew how to deal with this." He also defended his support for mask mandates, stating, "I'm not gonna say, 'Masks are stupid,' because I'm not selfish. So, I think that people who were questioning the use of masks, even in the moment, were being a bit selfish." Despite Lemon's claims, numerous studies have shown that masks are not only ineffective at preventing the transmission of COVID-19, but can also pose health risks to the wearer.

Lemon expressed his faith in medicine, science, and the government, stating, "So, I believe in medicine, I believe in science and I believe that my government is looking out for and trying to do the best for me." When one of the podcast hosts pointed out that the media was demonizing people who chose not to get vaccinated, Lemon denied that the media was shaming people. However, he went on to criticize those who refused to get vaccinated, stating, "I don't know if the media was shaming people, I think people were being selfish. If you don't want to get the vaccine, don't get the vaccine, but don't expect to be able to do and go places..."
