Elon Musk Faces Backlash from Liberals

Public Denouncement by Elton John

In a recent awards ceremony, Elton John publicly denounced Elon Musk, calling him an “a**hole”. This criticism from the 77-year-old musician is just another in a series of public denouncements from celebrities and pundits. They are targeting Musk for his support of former president Donald Trump and his opposition to censorship. The anti-Musk sentiment is so strong that some are even calling for his arrest, deportation, and barring from federal contracts.

California Coastal Commission Rejects Air Force Request

The California Coastal Commission, this week, rejected a request from the Air Force for additional launches from Vandenberg Air Force Base. The rejection was not due to a lack of need for the launches, nor because they would not benefit the nation and the community. Instead, the rejection was reportedly due to Musk's involvement in the presidential race, according to one commissioner. The military’s plan to let SpaceX, Musk's company, launch up to 50 rockets per year from the base in Santa Barbara County was rejected by a 6-4 vote.

SpaceX's Role in National Security

SpaceX is becoming an essential part of national security programs. It is set to launch a rescue mission for two astronauts stranded in space. The company's advancements under Musk are legendary, and the Air Force wanted to waive the requirement for separate permits for SpaceX to carry out these critical missions. Despite the national security value and the demand for SpaceX's services, officials like Commissioner Gretchen Newsom have criticized Musk for his political actions. Newsom accused Musk of spreading political falsehoods and attacking FEMA while claiming his desire to help hurricane victims with free Starlink internet access.

Musk's Controversial Actions

Musk became a controversial figure after he purchased Twitter and announced that he would dismantle the company’s extensive censorship apparatus. He further upset many on the left by releasing the Twitter Files, which showed the company's extensive coordination with the government in a censorship system described by a federal court as “Orwellian.” Following the purchase, former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton called for Europeans to force Musk to censor Americans under the Digital Services Act. Clinton has even suggested arresting those responsible for views that she considers disinformation.

Calls for Musk's Arrest and Deportation

Silicon Valley investor Roger McNamee has called for Musk’s arrest and suggested that government contracts should require him to moderate his speech in the interest of national security. Former Clinton Secretary of Labor Robert Reich wants Musk arrested for refusing to censor others. Former MSNBC host Keith Olbermann has called for Musk to be deported and for all federal contracts with his company to be cancelled.

Musk's Defiance and Importance to Free Speech

While other corporate officials have succumbed to demands for censorship, Musk has stood firm. He responded by releasing the Twitter Files and exposing the largest censorship system in history. This action has made him arguably the most important figure in this generation in defense of free speech. The intense dislike for Musk is due to his refusal to yield to a movement known for cancel campaigns and coercion. His existence undermines the power of the anti-free speech movement, and in a culture of groupthink, Musk is viewed as a type of free-thought contagion that must be eliminated.

Bottom Line

The left's campaign against Musk has escalated to the point where they are willing to kill jobs, cancel national security programs, and gut the Constitution. Their frustration with Musk has turned into anger and then rage. Yet, Musk remains steadfast. George Bernard Shaw once said, “A reasonable man adjusts himself to the world. An unreasonable man expects the world to adjust itself to him. Therefore, all progress is made by unreasonable people.” With all his quirks and eccentricities, Elon Musk might just be that brilliantly unreasonable person. What are your thoughts on this matter?
