Illegal Immigrant Charged with Double Homicide and Attempted Murder in Wisconsin
Charges Filed Following a Brutal Stabbing Spree
An undocumented immigrant has been charged in connection with a gruesome stabbing spree that resulted in the death of two children and left a woman critically injured in Wisconsin, as per reports.
The gruesome incident took place shortly after 1 a.m. on July 5 in Abbotsford, a city roughly 60 miles east of Eau Claire.
The Colby-Abbotsford Police Department responded to a distress call from a mobile home where they found a woman with multiple stab wounds, as per a criminal complaint reviewed by WQOW.
The Horrifying Scene
Upon arrival, the officers discovered that the woman's husband was in another trailer with their two daughters. After approximately half an hour of negotiations, the suspect gave himself up. The authorities found him holding a knife and covered in blood.
Inside the residence, officers found two deceased girls of undisclosed ages in a bedroom.
“One of the girls had 20 stab wounds on her chest, back, neck, hand, and arm. Some of these seemed to be defensive wounds. The other child had been stabbed 16 times, primarily in the chest and neck area,” as reported by WQOW.
“Acosta’s wife had been stabbed around 17 times. One of the stab wounds had severed her vocal cord, and another was dangerously close to the jugular vein. She required surgery to treat these wounds.”
Arrest and Charges
Victor Manuel Gomez-Acosta was apprehended at the scene. Gomez-Acosta, who also had multiple stab wounds that appeared to be self-inflicted, told the authorities that he was attacked by "crazy guys."
He has been charged with two counts of first-degree intentional homicide, attempted first-degree homicide, and operating under the influence.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement later revealed that Gomez-Acosta is a Mexican citizen who is in the United States illegally.
“Gomez-Acosta entered the U.S. legally in Sept. 2016, through the port of entry in Laredo, Texas. However, according to the agency, he failed to leave when required as per his entry conditions,” as reported by Fox News.
Gomez-Acosta is currently being held on a $1 million bail and is set to appear in court on July 30.
