Philadelphia Hosts Biden's "Black Outreach" Event with Low Attendance
President Biden and VP Harris Struggle to Fill Gymnasium with Supporters
On Wednesday, President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris visited Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for a "black voter outreach" event. The event was held in a college gymnasium, which was not filled to capacity, highlighting the Biden campaign's ongoing struggle to maintain black voters in its electoral coalition.
Launch of "Black Voters for Biden-Harris" Campaign
During their visit to Girard College, a boarding school predominantly attended by black students, Biden and Harris launched a new campaign effort called "Black Voters for Biden-Harris". The campaign aims to increase outreach among voters in key states by partnering with black organizations. The campaign will also work with these groups on voter education and registration activation, both online and on the ground.
Outreach Efforts and Voter Protection
According to the Epoch Times, the campaign will leverage partner organizations’ networks to strengthen voter protection efforts and safeguard the Black vote from potential attacks. The Biden-Harris campaign has planned multiple events in battleground states, including black church engagement in Arizona, new office openings throughout Georgia, and a community-led block party-style celebration in Nevada.
Further Organizing Events
Additional organizing events are scheduled to take place throughout the weekend in Florida, Maine, Michigan, Nebraska, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Wisconsin.
Controversial Event
The Conservative Treehouse described the event as "one of the most divisive, toxic and bitter racist events in modern political history." The Biden campaign is using the same strategy they implemented in 2020, which involved influential figures and organizations like James Clyburn, Barack Obama, the AME Church, and Black Lives Matter organizers.
Biden's Remarks and Challenges Ahead
Biden's remarks at the event were intended to rally the black voters in key precincts within key states. However, the challenges for 2024 are greater, as minorities, like all Americans, are negatively impacted by inflation, energy prices, and the open border and illegal migration.
Biden's Declining Support Among Black Voters
Biden's support among black voters is dwindling. During his appearance in Philadelphia, he criticized former President Donald Trump and highlighted his own achievements, such as appointing the first black woman to the United States Supreme Court, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, and more black women to the federal circuit courts than any other president in American history. However, recent polls show that his approval rating among black Americans has decreased significantly.
President Biden's Appeal to Black Voters
President Biden acknowledged the role of black voters in his election, stating, “Because Black Americans voted, Kamala and I are President and Vice President of the United States — because of you."
