Rail Union Leader in Germany Expresses Concern Over Rising Violence by Male Migrants
Steffi Recknagel, the head of the Railway and Transport Union (EVG) in Thuringia, Germany, has raised an alarm about the country's train system turning into a "battleground". She attributes this alarming situation to the increasing wave of violence and intimidation by male asylum seekers against female staff.
Train Staff Facing Threats and Abuse
In an interview with Focus Online, Recknagel reveals that the work environment for the employees has become "sometimes life-threatening" due to the escalating abuse by migrants. She states that every week, she has an average of three employees seeking legal advice in her Erfurt office. These employees have been victims of attacks, spitting, insults, threats, and even physical pushing.
Recknagel further adds that female employees have been subjected to slapping, kicking, spitting, and threats of being stabbed by the asylum seekers. She recounts the worst instance where a train attendant was threatened with a knife and another instance where an employee was physically attacked from behind, leaving her breathless.
Particular Routes More Prone to Violence
Recknagel points out that one stretch of the network, frequented by Syrian, Afghan, and Turkish migrants from the local asylum center, is particularly problematic. She mentions that these migrants, mostly young men, often travel in groups and exhibit unruly behavior on the trains.
Train staff, instead of intervening when these migrants engage in violent or threatening behavior towards other passengers, often choose to look the other way or hide in locked compartments to avoid becoming the next victim.
Police Ineffectiveness and Public Outrage
Recknagel notes that the police are largely powerless to step in, and the unruly migrants face no consequences for their actions. She expresses her frustration about Germans being told to embrace "tolerance towards migrants" while being violently attacked by them.
A letter addressed to Thuringia Prime Minister Bodo Ramelow, sent by the union, complains about female workers being subjected to "sexist insults and spit on in a disgusting manner," which includes migrants flashing their genitals.
The letter also blames the chaos almost entirely on "people with a migration background," recounting an incident where rival migrants fought a running battle, leaving an entire train compartment covered in blood.
Response from the Anti-Mass Migration Party
The Alternative for Germany (AfD), the country’s leading anti-mass migration party, responded to the story by asserting that train attendants and railway employees are regularly attacked, spat on, insulted, threatened, or beaten.
Statistics on Migrant Crimes
Recent figures released by the federal government reveal that foreign migrant suspects are responsible for nearly 6 in 10 violent crimes in Germany. Despite comprising roughly 14.6 per cent of the population, foreign migrants were responsible for 58.5 per cent of all violent crimes.
Support for the Cause
The union is seeking public support to help defeat mass censorship and is encouraging donations. They also urge people to follow them on X @ModernityNews.
