Ron Paul Discusses American Neocons and Their Iran War
General Michael Kurilla Arrives in Israel
Over the past weekend, General Michael Kurilla, the Commander of the US Central Command (CENTCOM), landed in Israel. His mission? To collaborate with the Israeli military and strategize a military strike against Iran. This is a significant development, as it involves a high-ranking officer from the US military planning a war in a foreign country against another foreign nation. The war will be supported by American weapons, intelligence, and tax dollars.
Why Iran?
The question that arises is, has Iran attacked the United States or posed a threat to Americans? The answer is no. So, why is Iran being targeted? The answer lies in Iran's retaliation against Israeli airstrikes, including the assassination of a Hamas leader, Ismail Haniyeh, in Tehran.
Israel and Iran's Escalation
The escalation between Israel and Iran was triggered by an Israeli missile attack on Tehran, an event without precedent. This growing tension between the two nations not only doesn't involve the US, but the increasing involvement of the US could potentially harm its national interests in the region.
Another War in the Middle East
After a fruitless and deadly three-year proxy war against Russia in Ukraine, the US is on the brink of another war in the Middle East, this time against Iran. The current Administration has even proposed to "compensate" Israel with more weapons and diplomatic support if they attack specific targets in Iran.
What if the Roles Were Reversed?
Consider a scenario where China sends military officials to Iran to ensure that certain US targets are hit and others are spared. Would the US perceive it as Iran's war against them, or China's war against them? Or both?
Has Congress Authorized the War?
Has Congress declared war on Iran or even authorized the war? The answer is no. Has the Administration explained why Americans suffering after the devastating Hurricane Helene are left to fend for themselves because billions need to be spent on a war that doesn't concern the US? Again, the answer is no. It seems that the neocons have been desiring this war for decades, and for them, it's always America last.
Implications of the War
This war will lead to less freedom, less safety, and more poverty for the US. There will be no benefits, only downsides. The question arises: will the Biden/Harris Administration approve of Israel destroying Iran’s oil production and other energy facilities? This would mean that Americans, already struggling with high inflation and an economic downturn, would have to pay significantly more for not just gasoline, but everything. This could lead to an economic disaster for Americans, all for the benefit of a foreign country.
Violation of US Law
If CENTCOM is assisting in "coordinating Israel’s retaliation" on Iran, it could be a direct violation of US law. Unless Congress authorizes US military action, the Pentagon cannot "coordinate" the "military forces of any foreign country" if "such forces will become engaged in hostilities".
The Risk of a Catastrophic War
The US is on the verge of sleepwalking into a catastrophic war, lulled into compliance by continuous media propaganda. More billions will be drained from the economy and many more innocent lives will be lost in this madness. Nearly a quarter of a century later, it seems we still haven't learned the lessons of 9/11. When we create havoc and destruction on foreign populations who haven't harmed us, we create enemies who will seek revenge. We harm ourselves. And we risk blowback.
