Transgender Individual Identified as Perpetrator in Stabbing Spree
Suspect's Social Media Activity Scrubbed
Reports from social media suggest that Jared Ravizzia, the individual who embarked on a stabbing spree on Saturday night, identifies as transgender. Ravizzia, 26, from Martha’s Vineyard, donned a long blonde wig and an extravagant costume during his attack.
The Attack
Ravizzia launched his attack on a group of young girls who were watching the movie “IF” in a theater in Braintee, Massachusetts. Following the attack, he fled the scene in a Porsche SUV, proceeding to a rest stop 30 miles away where he attacked two more individuals at a McDonald’s.
The Braintree Police Department released a statement saying, “Without any prior warning or uttering a word, he suddenly attacked and stabbed the four young females. The attack appeared to be unprovoked. After the attack, the man ran out of the theater and left in a vehicle.”
Ravizzia was apprehended by law enforcement later that evening and has been charged with assault with intent to murder and battery with a dangerous weapon.
Possible Link to Another Crime
There are suspicions that Ravizzia may be connected to a murder in Deep River, Connecticut. Police discovered a body in the town at 3.30 pm on Saturday and issued an alert for a suspect, described as “armed and dangerous” and carrying a large knife.
Social Media Reactions
Ravizzia’s unusual attire and his choice to begin his spree in a theater full of young girls has sparked a flurry of comments on social media. One user pointed out that Jared’s Instagram account, which could have provided crucial information about his identity and motivations, has now been “scrubbed.” However, a screenshot was provided that seemingly shows Ravizzia identifying as a female, with his preferred pronoun listed as “she.”
The user criticized The New York Post for referring to Ravizzia as a “madman,” stating, “This is not a “madman”, this is not someone that saw themselves as a cishet male—this is a transgender woman that attacked multiple girls. STOP COVERING FOR MEN LIKE THIS.”
In a chilling account, one of the mothers of the girls attacked in the theater reported that Ravizzia was “laughing during the stabbings.”
