Western Nations at Risk of Cyber Catastrophe
This month, an extensive internet outage across the United States resulted in the failure of approximately 8.5 million Microsoft Windows devices. The disruption affected banks, airline networks, emergency call centers, online retailers, and numerous corporate networks. The outage, which lasted about a day, is estimated to have caused at least $5.4 billion in profit losses.
What Caused the Outage?
The alleged cause of the breakdown was Crowdstrike, a cybersecurity company that uses large-scale data updates to Microsoft Windows networks to counter cyber threats. However, the company unintentionally uploaded bugged code, leading to a cascading outage. Devices running on Mac and Linux were not affected.
The Impact of the Shutdown
The shutdown was extensive, with over 25% of Fortune 500 companies being affected. Travel came to a halt, and many businesses had to cease transactions. Several banks, including Bank of America, Capital One, Chase, TD Bank, and Wells Fargo, were unable to function, leaving customers without access to their accounts.
This event brings to mind the panic surrounding the Y2K scare 25 years ago. However, unlike in 1999, today, nearly every sector of the American and European economy, as well as many utilities, are directly dependent on a functioning internet.
The Threat of Cyber Attacks
While many people worry about the danger of an EMP leading to a grid-down scenario, the real concern should be cyber threats. These events are likely to become far more common in the next few years due to several factors.
Firstly, there is the potential for random error, as seen in the Crowdstrike incident. Secondly, there is the potential for a foreign attack on US and European digital infrastructure. Lastly, there is the potential for a false flag event blamed on random error or a foreign government to instigate war or economic collapse.
The Next Global Disaster
A cyber attack could be the next global disaster. While we have managed to weather the COVID-19 pandemic and defeat draconian mandates, the economy is currently in a stagflation crisis. However, what if the next ploy is a complete shutdown of the web and a rapid financial collapse?
Determining who triggered the breakdown would be nearly impossible. Meanwhile, western officials controlled by globalist interests could lock down internet traffic and eliminate alternative media platforms, leaving the public with access only to corporate news sources.
Practical Solutions
The most practical solutions to this threat include storing necessities to protect our families, shutting off Windows Updates to prevent a Crowdstrike-like error from affecting our devices, and setting up a Linux-based device with secure data storage.
Additionally, it would be wise to purchase an external hard drive and clone your computer data for safekeeping. Another option is to build a completely offline device (a computer that has never and will never connect to the internet).
Preparing for a National Scale Cyber Attack
While these options can protect you and your valuable files, there's not much that can be done to prevent a national scale cyber attack and the damage that one could cause. The best course of action is to prepare for the inevitable chaos and violence.
In the event of a cyber attack, there is a distinct danger of communications disruptions. Therefore, having knowledge in ham radio and radio communications is a must.
Bottom Line
The recent events have proven that the threat of cyber attacks is real and significant. We have just witnessed one of the worst internet implosions of all time, and more are likely on the way. It's crucial to prepare accordingly and remember that technological dependency is a double-edged sword.
